Dear Cousins...Isn't is amazing how quickly time flies by? Here are the archived Guestbook entries for 2007 already! One of the glitches of the Guest Book is that you cannot simply click on the little envelope and send an email to each other. It doesn't work. I have posted email addresses here if they were available. I hope they work. I cannot guarantee that they will. For all of you who had inquiries that were not answered satisfactorily (if at all) or for those who simply want to touch base with other family members, I would encourage you to join the Wing Family Meeting Place As you will see, you have to request an invitation to join but as soon as you request an invitation it will be there as soon as we can possibly email it to you. The reason we do that is because at the old place we would get spammed (and still do) very frequently. But, you would not believe the files, the history, the pictures we have at the new Wing Family Meeting Place. Not to mention the family ties that we have established by exchanging posts, about virtually everything. We have truly become a family in the most profound sense. We would certainly welcome you with open arms. I also noticed a lot of posts that mentioned finding a portion of their family at Raymond's database and seemingly confused about why more information was not available. That would be because it is a Wing Family of America, Inc. policy not to publish any information on the Internet about anyone born after 1900. Or, if it is information about someone born prior to 1900, Raymond might not have that information. It would be a great service to the Wing Family of America, Inc for you to contact Raymond at wing_genealogist@yahoo.com to contribute that history in the interest of all Wing family members. And finally, for those of you that live outside of the United States, the Wing Family of America, Inc., added a new District to our By-Laws just for you folks. It is the New Fourteenth District, which includes all areas outside the United States. The Representative for the Fourteenth District is the personable Michael Wing of Ontario, Canada. This is how you can contact Mike: Michael Wing 1257 Plante Drive, Ottawa,Ontario Canada K1V 9 E9, Canada (613) 738-2437 mwing@rogers.com So Dear Cousins...Here are the 2007 Guest Book Archives... |

Peg Rasmussen - 2007-01-14 14:40:19 Thanks, Toni, for the network! What a diversity of Wings! I am a proud descendant--along a female line--from Keziah, a granddaughter of Stephen. At WFA reunions I can see facial and personality resemblances among the cousins whether or not their names are Wing. In tracing my female ancestors, including our Matriarch Widow Deborah, I find their strength to be inspiring. How many of us would cross the Ocean and bring four teenage sons into the unknown! 58. Lisa Decker - 2007-02-18 16:48:45 slightly_alive@yahoo.com Hello all - I am the great great great (lots of greats in there) of Isadore Wing-Connell. I have been trying to make the connection between Jessie Elizabeth Noble Connell to her mother but could never find Isadore’s maiden name; which I did early this morning. I have to say it was an amazing find. I do have information continuing to present day from this line although not much real documentation to back it up. My aunt has kept many notes of family stories and we do have a few various certificates but this is all new to me so I am not sure how to really find the necessary documentation. Again, this is truly amazing and I am open to any communications. Thanks, Lisa 95. Keith Wing - 2007-02-18 17:29:53 kwing21@rochester.rr.com Hello- My name is Keith Wing Jr. of Rochester, NY. What a great web site. 96. Joseph Anthony Wing - 2007-02-18 20:00:46 Tony.Wing@btinternet.com Hi, we are the Wing family in England. Our family has been based, in Lincolnshire[a county/region of the UK] for at least four generations. There has always been talk of family in the USA from generations before as well as in South Africa. Our family have been based around Boston in England where the Pilgrim Fathers were jailed after being caught trying to catch a ship for New England. They then headed south to Plymouth and the Mayflower. The rest is history as they say. If anyone in the Wing Family org in the USA has any links back to Wings in Lincolnshire or in other areas of the east of England do email me. Thank you and best wishes to you all. 97. raymond wing - 2007-02-18 23:00:24 raywing@hotmail.co.uk What a lovely web site to find. My ancestors hail from the New Forest in Hampshire, England. The New Forest is rich in documentary history and the first mention I can find is the 14th century. My line I have traced back to 1650, to a small village near Fordingbridge. Best wishes to you all. 98. Christine Webber Rooney - 2007-02-19 06:36:27 crooney917@aol.com Thank you for a beautiful website. I am a great-granddaughter of Jesse Wing Webber. Thanks to my grandfather Clinton O. Webber, who wrote his own biography, I’ve come to learn and love the wonderful ancestory of the Wing family. Please keep up your wonderful work. 99. Rebecca Smith - 2007-02-20 19:48:43 xxorebeccaxxo@hotmail.com I have been trying to trace my grandmothers side of my family tree. I come to a dead end at a Muriel D Wing whom married Harry Hinkley. Their daughter Elinore Hinkley married Henry Hodgson(these are my grandparents). I see all these last names on your web links but none of the first names. I’m desparate. I have been told there’s Native American ancestry on this side of my family but I can’t find it. I assume that’s because American Indians did not keep records. I need help, anyone, please. My grandparents and mother are deceased and my father has no information on this so I have lost all my sources for information. Rebecca 100. Barbara L. Good reading. 107. Stephen Wing - 2007-03-02 14:28:21 swla@optonline.net Hello, Just found this web-site--thanks for putting this together. I am descended in the line of Daniel. My grandfather was Joseph E. Wing of Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Several of us are working to pull together information and materials about his life. He was on a ranch in Utah in the 1880s and wrote dozens of vivid letters back home. Fortunately, one of his son’s (Andrew) gathered and transcribed many of his letters and compiled other information, apart from the 4 Joe Wing books. My cousin John Wing, who still works the family farm with his son, organized a historical marker at the farm which was dedicated in 2005. At that event I met more Wings than I’d ever seen. I recently read that a copy of one of the Rev.John Wing’s books was owned at one time by George Wing Sisson, who lived in upstate New York. Does anyone know the whereabouts of this book? I would also be interested if anyone out there has any Joe Wing material; letters, booklets, Wing Seed Co., catalogs, magazine articles, Breeder’s Gazette issues between 1902 and 1915. Best regards! 108. Brenda Wing Gilbert - 2007-04-21 00:20:49 bwg_rn@yahoo.com Hello. I live near Sandusky, Ohio. I am the first-born daughter of Daryl & JoAnn Wing. My Grandfather was Clarence F. Wing. 129. Christopher Allan Lee - 2007-04-21 19:22:47 ahfirefly@mindspring.com http://oldoldstuff.com/ It seems I am descended from wings through Mary Thankful Wing to Mary Edith Tolmie who was my Great Grandmother. Her only daughter, my grandmother Dorothy Emma Swart married Newell Byron Lee of Brandon, New York, Roxbury, and later Rutland, Vermont. Mary Edith’s father John Tolmie was a well known roadhouse owner in Saratoga Springs, on Lake Saratoga which burned to the ground with some guests casualties in the fire. Her sister Sadie Tolmie married Hubert "Alligator Joe" Campbell, where they lived on a houseboat in Jacksonville, Florida and were responsible for one of the state;s first tourist attractions, the famous alligator farm just south of Jacksonville. He was a rider in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show, apparently. I have just discovered genealogy as a hobby and have been left a wonderful scrap book that was Mary Tolmie’s before she married, with several clippings about Saratoga Spings in the early 20th century. 130. His major concern was that any of us would write to him at the old address and we would be spammed or our email addresses stolen accordingly. Everything has been worked out and is back to normal. So please, continue to contact Raymond with any questions that you have. Thanks, Toni 133. Have great-grandfather’s death certificate with the parents listed as Emery/EveryT Moray and Elizabeth King (unable to locate these individuals)of Maine. My great-grandfather named his children Arthur W., Emma, and William Ezra which ties in with the names from Ezra and Cynthia’s family. Arthur was in Maine in 1860 and 1870, was unable to locate him in 1880 Maine Census. Located my grandfather in Bay City, Michigan at a Boarding House in 1880 showing birth place Maine. Don Cordell - 2007-08-18 02:36:40 huddlstn@antelecom.net I’m descended from Stephen Wing’s daughter Sarah that married Robert Gifford, to Jeremiah Gifford, to Benjamin Gifford to Lydia Gifford, married Seth Huddleston in Dartmouth Ma, to Jonathan Huddleston to his son Jesse, to Samuel to Calvin Leroy Huddleston to Lavon Huddleston to Don Cordell ME. I met one of the Wing family association who use to live in So. Calif in the 1970s, she had the bed of Thomas Mayhew in her apartment at that time, don’t remember her name now, she was listed then in issues of the Owl. In about 1975 my son and I travelled to E. Sandwich, MA, and parked out front of the Wing family home on Spring Hill Rd. We couldn’t stay to visit inside, as I had to be back in Indiana 2 days later for the Huddleston family reunion. But at least I could say, I’d been there. Since I’m also a Gifford descendant who also settled in Sandwich it was an emotional tie anyway to the past. I copied the original Wing Family History book that I got on loan from the NEHGS back in the 70’s but have not entered all the Wing family data from that yet in to may Family Tree Maker file, working on it. I also have so many Nantucket family lines too, that it’s really a job to enter all I already have, including two lines back to King Edward Ist. I’m the librarian and educator for the Antelope Valley Genealogical Society in Palmdale, CA When I joined the club of 86 members in 1996, 10 of the members were descended from Tristram Coffin of Nantucket, and I’m descended from Tristram 4 different ways. Most interesting hobby, and endless info now on the internet. I started to copy pages of the Wing family only to realize it was about 1390 pages, wow. Anyway HI. and I am running for President of the United States at age 80. 190. Geoff Caldwell - 2007-08-25 18:03:31 gcaldwell100700@sbcglobal.net Hello, great site. And I thought it’d be eaiser to connect to my class if I understood my family a little bit more and what they did in maine and in the country. 198. Judith A. Robinson - 2007-10-23 13:33:01 robinsonjuditha@yahoo.com Sadly, I’m not a Wing --- I found your website while researching Caroline Gould Negus Hildreth, who in 1833 was a student at The Young Ladies’ Seminary in Keene, NH, est. 1814 by Catharine Fiske, dtr. Azubah Pierce and Luther Fiske. I slow down my research but find interesting and amazing families who founded the U.S. The Wings are one. Thanks, JAR 197. Toni Nash - 2007-10-16 00:09:31 tnash74528@aol.com Hi Morgan...so glad you wrote. I don’t know what you are looking for in particular but let me tell you this much...sometimes history is written by those that forget some of the major players in the unfolding story of our democracy. The Wing’s were an important part of that story but they sort of fell through the cracks. You could mention your cousin, Stephen Wing, who was so young and was killed in the King Phillip War. You could mention that Sandwich, Massachusetts was almost certainly named for your ancestor, Rev. John Wing. You could mention that you family was punished severely for being Quakers. Look around the official site Morgan and you will find links that will tell you about your history. There is the Wing Family Library, the Wiki Site that was made by Dennis Wing, the extensive Wing Family Database that is maintained by our own Wing Family Genealogist, Raymond Wing. Morgan, you come from such an amazing family...your name alone is probably one of it’s kind in your area. You are blessed. I know I am. Tell your class that your ancestor, Matthew Wynge, was a tailor in Banbury, Oxenshire, England. We know he was successful...his will is on this website. Tell your class about Matthew’s son, the Reverend John Winge, your ancestor also, how he died in London and that his wife, with her four sons came to New England. Morgan, you have a fascinating family history. If you have any more questions Morgan, I would be happy to help you as much as I can...and I know that Raymond Wing, our Genealogist would be delighted to help you. Just go all the way down to the bottom of the main page and our email addresses are there. Take care Morgan...and be proud. Toni Cox Nash...Web Hostess and Corresponding Secretary of the Wing Family of America, Inc. 199. Toni Nash - 2007-10-23 21:20:04 tnash74528@aol.com Dear Judith.... Thank you so much for signing the guestbook. That was so thoughtful. I must admit to being very proud to be a Wing descendant but it is pride combined with a great deal of humility. We didn’t make many history books nor did we seem to stand out in a crowd but our contribution to American history is evident in every bit of research we discover. That is probably the way our ancestors liked it. Working behind the scenes is sometimes enough gratification. By the same token, it wasn’t just the Wing’s that seemed to fall through the cracks of historical records....many, many families did. Many young men lost their lives in the King Philip War but are only footnotes in an obscure index in an out-of-date book somewhere. I just wanted to thank you so much for visiting the website and for signing the guestbook. That was so nice. Toni Cox Nash, Corresponding Secretary, Web Hostess, Wing Family of America. 200. Tina Louise Wing Mackie - 2007-10-26 16:13:09 tina_remour@hotmail.com I am a Wing from the Daniel line living in South Portland, Maine. There is a rich history of Wings in Maine but not so much my line. Wing Assembly of Maine is an organization which meets annually in September. All are welcome. 201. Barbara Luce Owens - 2007-10-29 20:48:57 blowens32@hotmail.com I’m really impressed by all of this work. I’m doing some research on my family (my mother is a Luce on both sides!!) I am the great, great neice of Leroy S. Luce. His brother was my great grandfather (Nathaniel Luce). I am actually looking for the parents of Samuel Luce and his wife Nancy Jane Carville, both buried in New Portland, Maine but lived in Farmington. 202. Joan Strausbaugh Dengel - 2007-10-30 00:14:04 jasd13@roadrunner.com I saw your tiny note about Amelia Kruse and Albert Lammers on Rootsweb. Amelia Gertrude Kruse was born to Christian Frederick (Cruse) Kruse b. 1832 in Hanover and Maria Elizabeth Barlage b. 1841 in Putnam County, Ohio. Maria was by greatgrandfather Henry’s younger sister. Frederick Kruse and Maria Elizabeth were married 21 Nov 1860 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf, Putnam County, Ohio. How does the Kruse/lammers family fit into your tree? I have no published information on the web. You can contact me at; jasd13@roadrunner.com. Joan Strausbaugh Dengel 203. Douglas Wing - 2007-12-09 22:03:21 dowing@swbell.net In reference to Brandon Wing’s entry (entry # 205). My grandfather was born in Iowa. He had 10 children. My father had a brother (known only to us as F.G.) born appx 1902 in Arkansas. My great-grandfather was born in New York (1830) and moved to Iowa. We are descendents of Daniel. If we might be your family, I would be glad to share what I know. Doug 207. Linda Wing - 2007-12-26 20:20:08 lindawing@tdbanknorth.com Great page.....Checking it out for my husband, John Wing, son of Roina and Elwin Wing. My daughter Kate gave him a breakdown of his ancestors for Christmas and of course it qwas only the tip of the iceberg but I wanted to see for myself just how historically important the Wing’s were (being a historian myself).....great stuff. Now I’ll have to delve in further..... Happy Holidays!!! Linda Wing |
