The Corresponding Secretary Report
March 13, 2010

First off I would like to apologize for my late report. Things stay fairly busy around here which limits my time and taxes my personal resources. I hope to have this finished by the time the meeting convenes this afternoon and have it sent and published on the internet so you all can read it.

To begin, we presently have 686 Annual Members in good standing and 259 Life Members. Our membership fluctuates so much. We have three people that join and two people that are lost in one way or another. However our membership is a solid total membership of 945 at this point in time.

I am working on making sure that all districts are not only accounted for but that all members are allocated to the correct districts. When I tried to send the membership roster to Hal & Lois a few weeks ago I discovered some mistakes. I am addressing that issue presently.

I know we were all saddened by the recent death of Melissa Romine. Her mother is Roxanne Van Romine, a Life member and Missy’s grandmother, Sue Van is also a Life member of the WFA. I have also recently received the news of the death of Ruth Batstone from her daughter, Medora Matson. I just got this news last week. It seems that Ruth died September 20, 2009. She turned 100 March 12th of the same year. Ruth was a longtime Annual Member of the WFA. I was honored to speak to her on the telephone in 2008.

I have a few checks to send to Larry. A couple of donations, a couple of membership dues, that kind of thing. A check for $300 from Mary Wing Schultz to convert from being a Sustaining member to a Life member.

I have tweaked the web site some. I think people find it easier to navigate. I will be adding the reunion information that Lois sent me today or tomorrow. So far we have 198 people who have opted for electronic newsletters and dues notices. That is a savings of nearly $100.00 on postal stamps. Nearly every other day I get a new request for electronic email. I have hopes that this project will really take off and realize some considerable savings as the time goes by. When you consider that many of our members have yet to own a computer, I think we have had much success with our electronic notification project.

I think that pretty much concludes my report. All the best to all of you...

Respectfully,
Toni Cox-Nash
