Olive Leona Mitchell, sister of Dessie Mitchell were my great aunts. Their brother Herman Charles Mitchell sr was my grandfather, and Herman C Mitchell Jr. my dad. I spent many summers in Kansas with them. Olive wrote a book about old time memories naming all the family members, and wrote a article in the Sunday papers also. Olive married Harold Staadt Sr., their son was Harold Staadt Jr and lived here in Tulsa. If anyone would like to contact me regarding any of the Mitchell relatives I would love to hear from them. I have many photos and articles to share. i have gone back as far as Mathew C Mitchell from Scotland in 1783. So glad I came across your site, I have sure enjoyed it. I have been trying so hard to figure out why she married Clare L Nelson, but was a wing nelson like her brother?? Today I found a statement that he was adopted, and had a wing mother. Bernita never used the name Ada, or Wing, only Bernita Williams Nelson. But Wing is on her headstone. I was fostered out when my mother was terminally ill and found the family again at age 14. It is curious that I was never told this story. So I haven't got it totally resolved, but if you are missing a couple of wings, these may be the ones. They are buried in Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. While searching for Clarence Zelro Nelson, I found your site yesterday, and it was very well done and helped me find a couple of side paths. You are still promoting the 2009 reunion in Seaside, Oregon; the 2011 Reunion is over, not need for the registration forms, Districts and their representatives need to be changed, we now have a new recording secretary, and other officers. In visiting the various districts, several of the links shown are sadly out of date. The information shown except for the bio's of representatives. I personally think all the state information is not needed and distracting. We need more news and announcements of what is happening in each district. If the representative doesn't provide the information to do so, turn-off or drop the link. ETC, ETC.......... For example, District 5, has a pictures from the 2009 reunion. Way out of date. Where are the pictures from 2010? In about two weeks we will be having our 2011 reunion. So forget about 2010. If Roxanne does not submit up-dated information, turn the district off. Same for others. All your points are very well taken Hal and I thank you for writing. It is true, I did get behind and there are no excuses for it. I considered not posting your complaint but then I was afraid that might be considered self-serving not to add it to the page. Your points are valid and I am sure well intentioned and I am doing my level best to get caught back up. I did remove the distracting information on the district pages and where possible have tried to update everything. I did not remove the pictures from District 5 just yet because they are great pictures. I am sure Roxanne has not sent me anything because she figured I was behind as it was. Since the district reunion was just a little over a month ago, she may not even have the pictures off her camera just yet. Anyway, thank you for writing Hal. Your complaint is very timely and very welcome. In checking, you were one of those who signed up for "electronic" emails for dues notices, newsletters, reunion information. Your willingness to have everything sent that way with the exception of the OWL which always goes through our postal service was very welcome to receive. And, in fact, I have sent you another email with your dues notice attached. I have also sent one to you by way of our postal service. Maybe my email is not getting to you...although I have not received a notice that it is not going through. Maybe you can't open my attachments and if that is the case, I will find another way to get it to you via email. I will no longer send anything via your email and will just send it via the post office until we can figure out what is going on. I am sorry for this inconvenience and any stress it has caused you.
