FROM THE OWL 2007 EDITION

The 79th annual reunion of the descendants of Grindal (Henry) Wing was held Saturday, June 23, 2007 in Founders Hall at Sauder Village in ARchbold, Ohio, the location of the Wing National Reunion.

A short meeting was held to re-elect the same officers for 2008. The next annual reunion will be held at the OttawaSenior Center in Ottawa, Ohio on Saturday, August 9, 2008. We will have a carry-in luncheon; and please bring a white elephant to sell as we did not pass the hat to collect money at the Wing Family reunion.

Our old balance was $541.37. We had bils for postage and printing in the amount of $248.70; prizes $30.00, advance to Shirley Duling for 2008 center$60.00; leaving a new balance of $202.67

Prizes were awarded to the oldest, Robert Bigelow and Margery S. Runyan; the youngest, Daniel Wing; and traveling the farthest, Stan Bonecutter from Greeley, Colorado. Numerous door prizes were given out for the children and a few adults. John Wing was planning to attend on Saturday, the 23rd, but he passed away on Friday, the 22nd.

There was one marriage, three births and one death reported since the last annual gathering. Those are listed in this years issue of the OWL under Weddings, Births, and Obituaries.





The seventy-eighth annual reunion of the descendants of Grindall (Henry) Wing was held on Staurday, Agusut 12, 2006 at the Ottawa Senior Center in Ottawa, Ohio. A few new members were recorded. Everyone enjoyed sharing a delicious potluck meal with an abundance of good food left over. The youngest in attendance was Paula Wing and the oldest was Doris Altman, 85 yrs young. Jeanne McDiamind had traveled the farthest.

The business meeting was called to order by President Jerry bonecutter. The Secretary's minutes were read and accepted. The Treasurer's report was read and accepted. Halfor Wing presented a report on the National reunion 2006 held in Sandwich, MA and the upcoming National Reunion in June of 2007 to be held in Archbold, Ohio. Betty Meiring reported on her pre-reunion visit to the Fort House before the very rainy weekend. the same board of officers was voted in for another year.

Following the meeting the auction was held and netted $146. A pass-the-hat collection amounted to $128.25. All expenses were paid: Hall rental $65, Postage & Printing $60.25, and supplies $30. It was also voted to send $100 to the Wing Family of America, Inc. for the Wing Fort House Restoration Project. With an old balance on hand of $522.37, and after paying bills, the new balance was $541.37.

A group photo was taken followed by families visiting the Crow cemetery in Greensburg Township where Grindall and Eleanor Wing are interred. Other families visited two more cemeteries - The Varner and Asa Varner, also in the same township) where other family members are buried. The next Grindall Reunion will be held on the same weekend as the National Reunion 2007 at Sauder Village in Archbold, OH.
