Welcome to the Fifth District! This district is
now represented by our darling Roxanne Van Romine who hails from Angola, Indiana.
Descended from Rev. John and Deborah Wing’s son, Daniel: Roxanne (Indiana) - Sue Quaintance, Dawson Quaintance, Electa (Wing) Quaintance, Austin, Grindall, John, Thomas, Sylvanus, Bachelor, Daniel, Rev. John
Roxanne should be in the dictionary under the word "Courage". Roxanne has zest for life that few can match. Her smile alone can make you feel so good. You can feel her smile in an email. I am so glad that she has become the Representative for our District. High Five Roxanne! Roxanne Romine romine76@mchsi.com District 5 Roxanne Romine
District 5 (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois) Report District 5 will have their 83rd annual Wing Family Reunion at the Senior Center in Ottawa, Ohio on Sunday, August 14, 2011 with a carry-in dinner at 12:15. I will be sending out 300 plus invitations. As reported previously District 5 has 45 lifetime membership and 69 annual memberships. District 5 has a lot of members on the mailing list that do not attend our local reunion. We sent 337 invitations out last year & had 33 attend our reunion. Maybe a newsletter & WFA application would be beneficial to our district since we do have so many names & addresses that our corresponding secretary does not have. Hopefully there will be a discussion about this at our next reunion. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Choo Choo in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I’m sure a great time will be had by all. |
From the 2010 OWL, a biography of Roxanne Romine
I am the newly elected representative for the states of Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky. I've been attending our reunions for about the past ten years or more and have enjoyed getting to know all my "Wing Cousins." We have been meeting in Ottawa, Ohio for the past several years and do have a lot of
cousins from Michigan who attend as well. Most of us who attend descend from Grindall "Henry" Wing so we do include other states in our mailings. I've only been to two WFA National Reunions, but hope to attend more in the future. The genealogy bug bit me about the same time that I started attending our renions and I have been very fortunate in finding lots of new cousins from the Wing family and many other lines as well.
My dad was drafted into the army shortly after his marriage to my mom so I was born in Hopewell, Virginia. We moved many times during my first year of life. Since then I've resided at Beautiful Lake James, except for seven years (age 11 to 18) when we lived in Glenwood, IN. I greaduated from Connersville High School in 1976 and then went to work for Dana Corporation. When the Syracuse facility decided to move a lot of our work to Mexico I discovered that I qualified to receive TRA assistance and thus earned an associates degree in office administration. I graduated in 2005 and found work right away at an indoor/outdoor motocross track which also sold parts and accessories, along with having a Yamaha dealership and repair shop. Since that business closed in 2007 I have worked on and off (part-time) at our local BMV branch. I am again attending school, this time at Trine University right here in Angola. I have been married thirty years to David Wayne Romine and we had two wonderful children, Joshua David and Melissa Sue. Missy passed away at the age of 25 on February 14, 2009. Words cannot express how much we miss her. Josh married the love of his life, Heather LeAnn Bray, on January 15th of the same year. They had been together for over two years, but decided to make it legal for the birth of our first grandchild, Olivia Hope Romine. Olivia made her entrance into this world on March 5, 2010. It has been quite a year for us and we atill are adjusting to this new life of ours. The death of Missy has been the saddest thing we have ever had to deal with, and the birth of Olivia has been one of our greatest joys. Our faith in the Lord, and the kindness of our family and friends has helped us to survive this traumatic time in our lives. My lineage in the Wing family is: Sue (Quaintance) Van, Dawson Quaintance, Electa (Wing) Quaintance, Austin, Grindall, John, Thomas, Sylvanus, Bachelor, Daniel, Rev. John & Deborah Wing. I always include Deborah since she is the one that brought her young sons here to America. I am pleased to represent our district and would love to hear from you. |
