Wing Family Reunion

2017 Wing Family National Reunion

The Wing Family of America National Reunion 2017

~~~ The Reunion Agenda~~~
The Dates: Friday, June 16, 2017 to Sunday, June 18, 2017
                    The Place: The Wing Fort House and Memorial Hall Annex
63 Spring Hill Rd, East Sandwich. MA
~~ The Focus of This Year’s Reunion ~~
We would like to focus in on two subjects this year. The first is the Memorial Hall Annex, our newly acquired facility that will allow us additional space to collect, display and preserve items of historical significance to our family’s history and heritage. Renovations may not be totally complete, but take a tour and use your imagination. Our second focus will be expanding the amount of time that we have to spend with each other, not only with the cousins that we already know, but also with those that we do not know as well, if at all. Let’s all get to know each other and celebrate our heritage together, as one family!
Early Bird Evening Get Together - Thursday, June 15th:
We will have an informal dinner open to all early arrivals at Seafood Sam’s, located at 6 Coast Guard Rd in Sandwich, beginning at 6:30 PM. It’s pay your own way and ordering is off the menu. Non-seafood choices are available, as are adult beverages and meal prices are reasonable. Depending on the number attending, we will have either a separate dining area or a  section of the main dining areas to congregate in.
Registration - June 16th:
Registration will be open between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM at the Fort House sight. You can also  register at the Annual Dinner or again at the Fort House on Saturday , between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Our Annual Dinner - Friday June 16 th: We have chosen the Club at New Seabury in Mashpee to host this event. Located at 20 Red Brook Rd in Mashpee (approximately 25 - 30 minutes away from both the Fort House and Hyannis), this upscale facility is located in an exclusive community of extraordinary homes and boasts beautiful ocean views. Detailed directions will be available when you register. We have arranged a Reception at 5:30 PM and a Buffet Dinner at 7:00 PM, followed by our evening program and guest speaker.
Our Annual Meeting - Saturday June 17: The meeting will be held at 1st Church (United Church of Christ), located at 136 Main St in Sandwich. While the exact meeting time is yet to be determined, it will begin between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Directions will be provided at the Fort House site.
Saturday Evening Gathering -  Saturday June 17: In order to expand our opportunities for visiting and socializing, we are trying to arrange a location where we can do just that. Depending on the location, we could have a meal or we could have just desserts  (maybe an ice cream social). Watch your emails, our Facebook site and our Reunion link on the Wing Family of America.org website for updates.
Sunday Morning Gathering - Sunday June 18: We will be having a morning gathering but we are still working out the details. Watch your emails, our Facebook site and our Reunion link at Wing Family of America. org.. for updates.
Watch for the 2017 Reunion Registration Forms which will soon be available on our website
~~ Local Activities and Places to See ~~
     We are in the midst of compiling a list of activities that you may wish to take advantage of during your visit to Cape Cod. There are numerous choices for every taste. You can take in the area’s beautiful beaches, take a nature hike at Wings Neck in Brewster or visit Heritage Gardens in Sandwich. You might also choose to visit the nearby Town of Plymouth which features the infamous Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II, an authentic replica of the original ship that carried the Pilgrims to our shores, and the Plymouth Grist Mill. A short drive away, Plymouth Plantation allows you a chance to roam through an authentic reproduction of a Pilgrim village and to visit with Pilgrim and Native American reenactors. More suggestions and information will be available soon on our website at the Wing Family of America website and on Reunion our Facebook page.
                                        ~~ Accommodations ~~
      Because we are not using a hotel or resort as our central location, those attending will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations. Use your favorite hotel website,  AARP Travel offers discounted pricing for seniors, or rent a cottage or cabin at VRBO, Home Away, Airbnb or another vacation property website. As a result of solicitations by the Reunion Committee, some hotels have agreed to offer discounted rates for WFA members. These locations are shown below. More hotels will be added if and when they become available. Those marked with an ** are not discounted, but are included because they are quite nearby the Fort House. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT WAIT!! RESERVATIONS FOR THAT WEEKEND ARE GOING FAST. THE CAPE IS A POPULAR DESTINATION , EVEN IN EARLY JUNE.
