My Patai's in New Orleans, Louisiana are interested in family history and over the past year I have managed to collected hundreds of years of heritage on other lines. Patai's - few and far across the world! We must somehow be related! Strange name and I'm hoping that you can help out. Janos Patai 1865-1944 married Mary Fodor 1966-1940 Children: Mary Patai Janos Patai Margaret Patai Andrew Patai (Patty) Frank Patai Johnstown Pennsylvania late 1800's Thank You and Happy New Year! I am a neice of Esther Wing and daughter of James Othal Gleason, and granddaughter to Forrest Henry Gleson.
Son of Archie Chester Wing(d.o.b. September 18, 1928, Foster/Knowlton Quebec - d.o.d. July 31, 1986, Ottawa, Ontario), grandson of Archie Bradley Wing(d.o.b. ?, 1900, Foster/Knowlton, Quebec - d.o.d ? 1967, Toronto, Ontario). Great website. Our family has a copy of "The Wing Family of the United States and Canada" and with all of the work that went into researching that great publication, I thought there must be something on the Web. Sure enough. I'll be sending in my application for membership. Thanks for your dedication.
I'm interested in joining the Wing Family of America. My father's name was Paul Wing and he's from Daniel's side. Wonderful site. Thanks!
Looking forward to the day when the Family is up and operating. Hope the site is as good as the old OWLs were for Wing Family genealogy information.
Hi, I am the great great grandaugher of Jehu Lowery Wing and Mary Rebecca Johnson Wing. I am looking forward to finding out more about our wonderful family. If anyone has anything they would share with me please email me at eqb@bellsouth.net thanks
While you are already re-doing your site, why not include old issues of "THE OWL" so a greater number of our clan can do research . If you made back issues available online you might get a larger enrollment rate. There are many out here that are getting frustrated with the lack of assistance in obtaining varifiable info. Please consider this request.--In my case, we can trace back only 4 generations [circa 1815]. Info was provided on earlier family members but was not varifiable. It was later found to be totally incorrect. If we are to receive assistance from TWFA,it should at least be reliable and VARIFIABLE, not just guesses. We can do that without help. If you or others would like to respond to this, please feel free to do so.-----JN-----
Hello my name is Will and I am the great grandson of D.D.S. Franklin Fearing Wing. My grandfather is William Daniel Wing and his brother was a hall of fame show jumper for the army his name was Brigadier General Franklin Fearing "Fuddy" Wing. My father has a family tree for our family that dates back pretty far, but I havn't seen it in a while so my great grandfather is the farthest I can trace back from the top of my head. If you would like me to e-mail you a picture of it let me know. I would like to update it with information from you and maybe compare what I have with what you have. I am willing to send you any information I have that you might need. The next time I write back I will have more facts and specific questions. Please let me know if you get this. Thanks and I enjoyed browsing through your page.
My wife Anne and I were in Cape Cod for a WW II ship reunion and visited the Wing Old Fort House on Saturday September 22 before we returned to Michigan. My grandmother was a Wing, so it was a must for us to visit the house. We found it most interesting and the caretaker was most informative. We had a great time at the Cape and the Wing House was one of the highlights of our visit. Wm. and Anne Hock
I was on yahoo and stumbled on your site when researching decendants of Salem,Mass.I am a decendant of the Wardwell,s of Salem and Ipswich and was looking for info on Samuel Wardwell.
I am a wing from the Stephen line. How do I find out which ancestor fought in The Revolutionary war in case I wanterd to join DAR ?
Years ago "The Owl" was published in E. Sandwich, MA. Ruth Sisson was the editor at that time. I'm looking for the curent Editor & address of the publication. I'd also like to know if the early copies [1899 - 1903] have been microfilmed and available on inter-library loan? Would appreciate any suggestions on availability. Thank you, G. Wood
"The OWL", the newsletter of the Wing Family, was started in Kewaunee, Wisconsin a few years before the turn of the century. George Wing was its original writer and editor. George went on to write many stories of the history of Kewaunee County. The Kewaunee County Historical Society is putting together a collection of these stories and is searching for a picture of George Wing to place on the cover of the collection. Anyone who has a picture of George Wing or has access to a picture is asked to please contact me, Shirley VerBruggen at ShirleyVB@aol.com as soon as possible. We would appreciate a scanned image of the picture for this purpose. (George was the nephew of my gg-grandmother.)
My line starts with Stephen Wing, then Nathanial, Nathanial Jr., Joseph. Reuben, Reuben Jr., Stephen Landers, George Washington, William Henry, and George Herbert Wing. The last few are from Maine. I have a 2nd Wing line that follows the previous one up to Reuben Jr., then goes to Stephen P., Freeland Q., and back to George Herbert. Fascinating isn't it?
I would be interested in obtaining any printed material that you have about the family. My granmother was Doris Maria Wing born in 1897 and died 25 May 1963 in Norton, Ma. Her sister was Violet Esther Wing. I have more information but not with me at this time.
I am working on the Wing line with my uncle Edward L Wing have information back to Thomas Wing (1937-1915) married Carolyn Clouse (1840-1926) Just recently received the line Matthew, Rev John, Daniel, Daniel, Edward, Edward & Content Wood, Abraham Thomas & Lydia Brownell Wing, Thomas and Sarah Brownell Wing and then Thomas and Carolyn Close or in obit that I have Clouse. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Keep up the good work!
I'm working on a project for school and I need some information about the Wing family when they lived in Massachusettes. I am part of the Wing family and any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, My father was a Wing born in Texas and raised in Kansas. I have gone by The Old Fort House and have lived most of my life in Massachusetts so I have come full circle.
Hi, My Mother is a Wing. Her side is from Maine. Her father Archie,Then -Alfred,Stephen,Stephen,Joseph,Nathaniel,Nathaniel,Stephen,Rev.John.Would be interested in information on the Maine Wings. If you have anything on the Stephens. Thanks
I'm thinking about renewing my Wing Membership. In the past year, I found the picture of our Great-Grandfather Stephen Wing, who died in the Civil War. Barb Palow did the search and found the history of the battle he was in and where he died. In Stephen's wife's obit, she had stated he died at Fair Falls, Va. Wrong he did at Fair Oaks, Va. I knew that my Cousin Evelyn Merrill, had a pic handed down from my grandfather Frank Ennis Wing of the soldier Charles Warboys, that helped my gg grandfather when he was killed in the Civil war. Then I got sent a copy to Barb. This old pic of Steven Wing was in his grand daughter's house, and she died, I knew of the pic, which I had never seen, because it was too hard for my Aunt to get down. Last year her daughter found the pic and I copied. It took many years to get this pic, but we did, and now know the history of our great grandfather Stephen Brown Wing. Which makes me very very happy. Fern Louisa Wing Bessac
Hi, family: Ready to volunteer/assist anytime. Site is looking good--keep up the good work!
Looks good. I will check it again to see what future information looks like. How about a photo tour of the Wing Fort House interior?
I am a Wing descendent from my father's side. My parents and all of my grandparents passed away when I was young, so information has been hard to come by. I know I am a descendent of Jarvis and Sarah (Dangler) Wing. My downline comes from their son Oliver (my gg grandfather). I have just started putting some pieces together on this and can't wait to learn more. Thank-You!
I have just completed my Wing lineage and am excited to discover that I am a descendant of founding brother Stephen Wing. I'd be happy to correspond with anyone interested in Wing family history, though I know very little outside of the research I did for my own specific (patri)lineage.

Comment: My wife was the late Fern E. Wing Reid who compiled the book The Wing Family of the USA and
Canada. She began compiling the data for the book in 1958 and continued to research Wing family lines until she had a stroke in July of 1995. We visited the Wing Fort House and was truly impressed. We had the good fortune of living in the UK for 11 years and in 1966 visited most of the Wing sites whose photos are shown in the OWL. I feel honored to have married a beautiful girl whose ancestry is so noble - she was a wonderful wife and mother and a dedicated family history researcher. She published two other books - one on her mother's ancestry THE HORSMAN GENEALOGY and another on her WHITTIER ancestry. Quite an accomplishment for a mother of 7 and an outstanding homemaker. These unusual achievements I suppose just reflected her Wing heritage.

Comment: These past two months of genealogy research have been exciting! My maternal great-grandmother was a Wing. My mom said that no one ever told her about this connection - therefore "robbed" of a great history! My lineage is as follows: Joanne Ziolkowski; Nina Lee McHugh Ziolkowski; Lorena Harvey McHugh; Mary Rachel Olive Wing Harvey; Silas Monroe Wing; William Warner Wing (William and his 2nd wife, Elizabeth Amelia, moved to Kansas around 1880 - supposedly they had some children there???...); Silas Wing (married Lucy C. Smith - a Rogers {Mayflower} and Adams descendant); David Wing Jr. (moved his family from Sandwich, MA to Oxford, OH in 1813-1819); David Wing Sr.(Revolutionary War); Ebenezer Wing; Nathaniel Wing; Stephen Wing; Rev. John Wing; Matthew Wing. I'm planning to turn in my WFA application and I'll be visiting the Fort House as soon as I can!
