The Wing Cemetery, commonly referred to as the Wing “Ring” Cemetery, located in

Wayne, ME, was established in 1867 by Wing family members who had relocated from Sandwich, MA., and were among the original founders of the town. The Cemetery had been continuously owned, maintained and cared for by local Wing family members for the past 159 years until recently. The Cemetery was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1991.
Major repairs and maintenance have been accomplished during the past few years with financial support provided by four generous Wing family members and The Wing Assembly of Maine, which will ensure that the site will remain in sound condition for decades to come.
Unfortunately, after 159 years, there is no longer a local Wing family member to manage the care and maintenance of the Cemetery. As a result, it became necessary to convey the Cemetery to the Town of Wayne Cemetery Association which will provide care and maintenance to the site in the future.
If you are interested, as a condition of the transfer the Wayne Cemetery Association agreed that any Wing family members will always be allowed to go onsite to care for gravesites or to provide other repairs and maintenance as needed to the site itself.
