WFA 2026 Reunion

By Cyndy Doherty

When Wings gather, they always have a great time.  And that was true again this year.

Watch for The OWL this Fall for a full write up of the 124th annual WFA reunion held in the Wing Museum in Sandwich this year.  You’ll learn more about the Friday night dinner, our annual membership meeting and our scholarship auction,

But I’d like to talk about the members who stepped up at our reunion to help the organization.  They saw a need and they came forward to address it.  The gutter at the top of our two-story Fort House was broken.  Bob Wing didn’t hesitate.  We provided the ladder; he provided the expertise to put the gutter back to its rightful place.

The Wing History Museum has a few maintenance issues that need to be addressed.  With no hesitation Ron Wing, who lives on Cape Cod, came to our Saturday general meeting armed with his pressure washer.  The Wing History Museum never looked so good.

Not to be outdone, while Bob was climbing the ladder and Ron manning the pressure

washer, their wives, Linda Depres and Donna Wing, took one look at the garden in front of the museum and knew they had to do something.  They pruned the hydrangeas and cleared the weeds on Saturday and tackled the backyard on Sunday.  We are so grateful to our Wing cousins who saw a need and took the time and elbow grease to fix it.

In addition, Marilyn Leidenroth has agreed to be our new District 4 Representative. Carolyn Torst is taking on the job of photo editor for The OWL, helping editor Elizabeth Fulford, who works tirelessly to publish a quality product.

What about you?  The WFA is always in need of volunteers. You don’t need to know how to garden or do page layout or climb a ladder.  Do you like to do research?  Perhaps you’d like to write some articles for The OWL or Window on the Wings.  Do you have financial experience?  Maybe you could volunteer for the Budget Committee.  Marketing?  We are always looking for help in that area. If you would like to volunteer or you’d like to see if your skills are a fit for a WFA job, please contact Cyndy Doherty at vicepresident@wingfamily.org
