May 2025 President's Message

Y’all,

I love the Springtime!  This season fills the heart with all the possibilities of the year.  All the new life that surrounds us from the leaves on the pecan tree to that beautiful new calf.  Easter and the resurrection is by far my favorite holiday, for the hope and joy that floods my soul.  I pray that your Easter and Spring brought you as much joy as it has me.

As the temperatures change from bitter cold to extreme heat here in South Georgia, my brain bounces ahead to the 2025 WFA Wing Reunion in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  This year’s reunion is going to be one for the history books and I am SO EXCITED!  Having never been to Gettysburg, Gregg and I can’t wait to take in all the sights and history the area has to offer.  As the old commercials would announce….  But, there’s more!!!

This year, as with years past, we have some great speakers to get us in the mood and help us connect to each other, our heritage and our great country!  We will be announcing our first ever Scholarship winner.  We will be hosting our first ever online silent auction - in an effort to fund that scholarship.  There will be prizes for hardworking and dedicated members.  Not enough prizes for all of the love and dedication that goes into this organization, but some recognition!  There are joys, stories and sorrows to share.  Kisses, hugs, handshakes and smiles for all!  Please join us if you can.

As mentioned, we will be having our online silent auction.  The items in the auction are articles gathered from around the country.  Some of the items are silly objects, some regionally famous, some known around the world.  Many of the items have ties to the family, historical and more recent treasures.  Some items are stand-alone, some have awesome stories.  If you have something you’d like to donate to this auction, please let me know via email or text (president@wingfamily.org or 912-290-1375) and I will be happy to help you.  Keep your eyes open for more information about how to find and bid on the auction items when it goes live.

I know many of you will be having smaller family gatherings and regional and district reunions this summer.  Make sure you take lots of photos, eat lots and lots of food, and enjoy each other in every way you can.  Please let us know when and where your reunion will be - you never know who might join you.  Also send those pictures and a letter to the OWL, so that we can share your experience!

I can’t wait to see you!

Signing off for now, so much to do, so little time…

The Wing who ain’t quite right!

Mel
