Have you paid your annual Wing Family membership yet?

Below is a letter from 1908 thanking a cousin for her $1 subscription/membership! Remember, before you get too jealous, that $1 in 1908 would be worth about $37 today…

The letter was sent to us by Cousin Catherine Beall, great-granddaughter of Mamie Lee Scott Wing.  It was written by Col. George Wing, one of the founders of The Wing Family of America in 1902.  The name in the upper right, Geo. Dikeman Wing, Publisher, is that of Col. George’s son, who founded The Owl in 1899.  Once the WFA got underway, however, Col. George took over the running of the enterprise, so we’re pretty sure the letter was written by him rather than his son.
